I am so excited! My ramps onto Beltway 8 are open!!!! It may seem silly and stupid but I will pay $1 to miss 8 traffic lights and lots of traffic. I have been upset because they have been closed. Which means it takes extra time to get to work (yuck). They have also opened more lanes on 10 eastbound which helps disperse a lot of traffic. Today I was able to get from Katy to the Church in about 30 minutes (YIPPPPEEEE -- this used to take at least an hour).
For this week at least all is right in the world. Next week however will become a trying time as they will close the HOV lane on I-10 until October 28th.

My Parents 27th Wedding Aniversary
Today is my parents 27th Wedding Anniversary -- it is also 29 years since the day they met. My Dad claims he is not good with dates so he insisted they be the same. I think its cute.

The Big White Boat
Today was our 2nd Quarter Regional Meeting and it was on The Big White Boat out in Clear Lake and Galveston Bay. The Districts in our area get together for team building and awards from our Regional Manager. It was on this 2 story yacht with food and drinks.
Through this experience it was confirmed in my mind that I do not like boats. At first I thought it was just the fact that it was Galveston and the color of the water was icky. It could also be the fact that you have to store, insure and maintain the boat. Alas no, I don't like being contained on a boat, and it is strangely odd when you pass the Kemah Boardwalk and all these people are staring at you because you are on a yacht (makes you feel like a creature at the zoo). Also this is not like a cruise ship you definately feel the motion of the ocean (or bay) -- no stablizers (?SP) on this boat.
Anyway it was nice of our Regional Manager to pay for all of us to sail away the afternoon and to also be able to talk to people I don't get to see except for a training class or meetings like this.

There once was a little girl who was very energetic like a fairy princess. Her name was Emily and she is four years old. She is about to be launched into the big wide world!
Interrupt story...
I have a niece named Emily. She is an energetic handful and I have decided that my sister has an incredible amount of patience. I went to see Emily and my sister H on Monday. When I walked into their home I noticed that Emily's hair was a lot shorter than it has been in the past. My seester informed me that in between my phone call and my arrival they went to the hairdresser because Emily had given herself a haircut. H informed me that this is her second time to do so. "We don't know if she will be a cosmetologist or a dental hygenist." I did not get the last one until she repeatedly asked to brush her teeth throughout the afternoon. Like all four year old children she hops from one activity to another which is sometimes hard to follow.
Soon they will be going to visit my brother in law S's parents. Everyday Emily wakes up and dresses herself and announces "I'm ready". She is very excited to travel. Her last outfit for the airplane was pajama pants and a cardigan. Quite the stylist! She also looks forward to her special airplane treats that my sister has picked up --like ring pops and sticker books.
Later that evening Emily had the opportunity to show off for us all at her swim lesson. After that we went to "McSonic" for a corndog and strawberry shake.
After they get back from visiting the grandparents it will be a big month. Emily will turn 5 and she will be starting kindergarten this fall at my sisters school. Even though my sister will be at the same school it is still sad because she is growing up. Also in the middle of the rest of the chaos they are getting ready for a home study as they would like to adopt. I don't know how my sister does it...there is certainly never a dull moment.

Weddings
So...I think I will take on a second job. That of professional wedding attender. I have several weddings to attend the rest of this year and the start of 2009. Yes, I have a total of 10 weddings to attend between now and March 2009. This number of course does not include the the three weddings I have already attended this year thus far. I am very excited for all of my friends and family members and I am happy that they are all getting "roomate upgrades".
Someone once suggested that I become a wedding planner as I do enjoy weddings. However, I do not think my stress level could handle such a job. I am pretty sure I would turn into an obsessive compulsive nut.
If only I could figure out how to get paid for this job then life would be truly great.
